While sequels, remakes, comic book adap­ta­tions and ani­mated movies will inevitably dom­i­nate 2011's box office, there will still be a few hits that don’t fall in to any of these cat­e­gories. In 2009, there was Avatar, The Hang­overand The Blind Side, and in 2010 there was Incep­tion. Here’s a look at ten of the con­tenders, includ­ing three high-profile book adap­ta­tions, a few alien inva­sion movies, a poten­tial Twi­light suc­ces­sor or two and some wholly orig­i­nal wild cards.

Water for Ele­phants (April 22): It’s easy to dis­miss Robert Pat­tin­son as just part of the Twi­light craze thanks to the poor box office per­for­mance of Re­mem­ber Me last March. How­ever, his next movie Water for Ele­phants is poised to be much more suc­cess­ful: it’s helmed by block­buster direc­tor Fran­cis Lawrence (I Am Leg­end), has inter­est­ing co-stars Reese With­er­spoon and Christoph Waltz and is based on a report­edly pop­u­lar book.

Bien que des suites, des remakes, des adaptations de bandes dessinées et dessins animés vont inévitablement dominer le box-office 2011, il y aura encore quelques "hits" qui n'appartiennent à aucune de ces catégories. En 2009, il y a eut Avatar, Hangover (en français, Very Bad Trip...) et The Blind Side, et en 2010, Inception. Voici un regard sur dix des films concurrents, dont trois adaptations littéraires de haut niveau, quelques films d'invasion extra-terrestre, un ou deux successeur potentiel de Twilight et quelques cartes joker complètement originales.

Water for Elephants (5 Mai): Il est facile de rejeter Robert Pattinson à cause de l'engouement autour de Twilight ou encore à cause de la faible performance au box-office de Remember Me en Mars dernier. Cependant, son prochain film Water for Elephants est sur le point d'être un succès bien plus important: il est dirigé par le réalisateur du blockbuster, I am a Legend, Francis Lawrence, a des co-stars intéressantes comme  Reese Witherspoon et Christoph Waltz et est basé sur un livre très populaire.
