Robert Pattinson, Stunning, Erotic in Bel Ami Trailer

Robert Pattinson is seething with lust in an explosive portrayal of Guy de Maupassant’s scandalous protagonist in a leaked trailer of “Bel Ami,” a movie about decadent French society, co-starring Uma Thurman, Christina Ricci and Kristin Scott Thomas.
This could be the film where Pattinson establishes himself as an actor, on par with Marlon Brando, James Dean and Richard Burton.

He exudes lust, desire and ambition as a “penniless” soldier who’s determined to find his place in French society by seducing the wives of powerful men at the center of Parisian society.

The film is about the corrupt rise of Georges Duroy, who becomes one of the most successful men in Paris by manipulating powerful, intelligent, and wealthy mistresses.
The period piece has been in the can for quite awhile, but is finally set to premiere in the fall, or so the latest reports claim.

Pattinson shot the film before “Remember Me” and “Water for Elephants,” but no one has been able to pin down a solid release date.
Which is odd, given the all-star cast, not to mention one of the hottest actors in Hollywood at the moment.

Bel Ami is a Redwave Films production in association with Simon Fuller’s new company XIX, Protagonist Pictures and RaiCinema.

They are no slouches, so they could be waiting for the Twilight hype to die down from “Breaking Dawn, Part 1″ and for Rob to block out some time to promote the film.

Thurman recently praised Pattinson’s performance: “He’s incredibly concrete in his presence on the set and obviously very handsome,” she told MTV.
“He’s a very nice person and he’s sensitive,” she added. “He’s present. He’s a really good actor.”

The trailer for the film was posted today (July 22) and quickly disappeared. But you can check it out below.

“Bel Ami” is scheduled to premiere in late 2011.

Robert Pattinson Unleashes Seductive Fury in 'Bel Ami' Trailer

Wow. After watching Robert Pattinson basically grow up in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the Twilight saga and Water for Elephants, I'd basically give up hope that the twentysomething heartthrob could escape his soft-spoken typecasting and become the next Johnny Depp or Leonardo Dicaprio. But after a few snippets of scenes from his latest indie period drama Bel Ami, I'm starting to wonder if he's been hiding his real talents in order to survive the Twi-hards!

Based on a novel by Guy de Maupassant, Pattinson stars as George Duroy, a cunning former-soldier in 1890s Paris who uses his powers of seduction to sleep his way to the top. Co-starring are Uma Thurman, Kristin Scott Thomas and Christina Ricci as the various women Pattinson romances to their breaking point.

Period dramas always run the risk of becoming stuffy and impenetrable (think most of the Merchant Ivory flicks), but Bel Ami is up in the air. On one hand, the actual plot is difficult to follow (he marries who? sleeps with who? buys his top hat from who?), but on the other, Pattinson looks to extricate serious emotion here—to the point of veins popping on his forehead. That alone may make this one worth seeking out.

‘Bel Ami’ Trailer: Robert Pattinson Has Superhero Seducing Powers

Forget San Diego Comic-Con, the real superhero is Robert Pattinson and his unrelenting charm in the first trailer for his drama Bel Ami. Based Guy de Maupassant‘s classic novel, the main thing I take away from this film is anyone that lays eyes on our Twilight star wants to sleep with him. And then he eventually becomes a cranky man. Sound good? Check out the trailer below via YouTube for the film also starring Uma Thurman, Kristin Scott Thomas and Christina Ricci and directed by Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod.

I actually think Pattinson has some talent, so I’ll be looking forward to checking this one out. No release date has been set, but I assume we’ll see this one on the fall festival circuit.

From Los Angeles Times :
Robert Pattinson breaks hearts, beds in 'Bel Ami' trailer

Robert Pattinson's much anticipated "Breaking Dawn" sex scene might not hold an oil lamp to the action in the actor's upcoming period piece, "Bel Ami," if a trailer leaked Friday is any indication.

In a web of French intrigue and bedsheets, Pattinson plays a "penniless" soldier who's trying to break into society. Turns out the young man fortunately has some, um, skill when it comes to entertaining the wives of powerful men at the core of Parisian society.

A trailer for the film, posted early Friday and then taken down, shows RPattz courting beauties played by Uma Thurman, Christina Ricci and Kristin Scott Thomas. His amply notched bedpost soon gets the better of him, and heavy breathing, high stakes and lots of corridor-running ensue.

Worry not, Rob watchers: The dedicated staff of the Ministry's Gratuitous Beefcake and Cheescake department will keep watch for the clip's comeback and post it the moment we can.

In the meantime, tell us in comments whether "Bel Ami" sound like something you'd like to see. And for the record -- that weird hairstyle he's been rocking belongs to his "Cosmopolis" character, Eric Packer.

Bel Ami Trailer Helps Women Live Out Their Robert Pattinson Seduction Fantasies

This trailer for Bel Ami gets it. The movie stars Robert Pattinson and someone involved somewhere in their marketing department seems to not only understand who he is, but who his audience is. Robert Pattinson is the girl-crush of every woman who has ever read or will read a romance novel. Women want to fantasize about being seduced by him, bedded by him, swept off their feet by him. So the first trailer for Bel Ami is nothing but a series of sequences in which Robert Pattinson does that to a series of different women of all ages.

The first trailer for Bel Ami covers Robert Pattinson’s entire seduction demographic from young (Christina Ricci) to middle-aged (Uma Thurman) to much more than middle-aged (Kristin Scott Thomas). It’s as if someone walked into Comic Con’s Hall H during the Twilight panel, wrote down what everyone there wanted, and walked out to craft a trailer for Bel Ami which would satisfy that.

Now that's a tasty treat! Twilight's Robert Pattinson gets his teeth into Uma Thurman in philandering Frenchman role
It looks like Robert Pattinson’s career as a Hollywood heartthrob is far from reaching its Twilight.

The hunky English actor is getting ready for the release of his most outrageous movie yet, in which he stars as a philandering Frenchman who sleeps with married women to advance his social status.

He shines as cad Georges Duroy in Bel Ami, who travels through 1890s Paris using his attractiveness to seduce influential older women.

While Twihards are probably still trying to compose themselves after yesterday’s “Twilight: Breaking Dawn” presentation at Comic-Con, they may be dismayed after coming down from the high of the vampire franchise to see their beloved Edward playing such a relentless douchebag. But the trailer for the long-awaited period drama, “Bel Ami,” is here and it finds Robert Pattinson tearing through women in high society London during Ye Olden Times.

Based on the book by Guy de Maupassant and joined by Uma Thurman, Kristin Scott Thomas and Christina Ricci, “Bel Ami” will find Pattinson playing George Duroy, a sexy social climber in turn-of-the-century 1890s Paris, who seduces his way to wealth and fame from a poor beginning. Thurman will play the wife of one of Duroy’s friends who eventually marries Pattinson’s seductive schemer. Kristin Scott Thomas will appear as a woman who overestimates Duroy’s attachment to her.
Pattinson actually looks fine in the role, but the whole thing plays like an overcooked Harlequin romance writ large. Also, minus points to the trailer for using the most generic, overused music possible. Earlier in the year Pattinson described his character as a “shit” and said overall, the film will be hard to market due to the general assholery of the fellow he plays. While we agree that George is certainly kind of a dick, the film should be fine marketing wise. It’s a steamy period piece with a solid cast, so it will likely find an audience. No word on release dates yet, but we presume it will be somewhere on the TIFF schedule.

Robert Pattinson is the focus of the just-released Bel Ami trailer.
In this Bel Ami film version of Guy de Maupassant's novel, Pattinson plays down-and-out former soldier Georges Duroy, who wins the hearts and bodies of a whole array of Parisian women. Among those are Uma Thurman, Kristin Scott Thomas, Christina Ricci, Natalia Tena, and Holliday Grainger (here billed as Holly Grainger).

I could swear I'd read — or perhaps saw a clip of — Robert Pattinson telling an interviewer that he found the Bel Ami screenplay to be hilarious. Watching this Bel Ami trailer, however, the film comes across as anything but funny. Bel Ami is Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod feature-film directorial debut. The screenplay adaptation was by Rachel Bennette.

Bel Ami, which was partly shot in Budapest last year, will presumably come out later this year in the United States. I'm no fangirl, but I'm looking forward to this one.
