*UPDATE* "The Rover"... News, schedule & casting...

...

from Variety
Scoot McNairy, Susan Prior, Gillian Jones, Anthony Hayes and David Field have joined the cast of futuristic indie actioner "The Rover" opposite Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson.
Project, directed buy "Animal Kingdom" writer-director David Michod from his own script, began a seven-week shoot last week in South Australia. Porchlight Films and Lava Bear Films are producing with support from Screen Australia, the South Australian Film Corporation and Screen NSW.
Michod's script is based on a story he conceived with Joel Edgerton and set in the Australian desert in a dangerous and damaged near future, triggered by a gang of desperate criminals stealing the last possession of Pearce's character, setting him off on a ruthless mission to track them down. He's forced along the way to enlist the help of the gang's injured junior member, played by Pattinson.
Liz Watts is producing for Porchlight and David Linde for Lava Bear Films. Watts and Porchlight produced "Animal Kingdom."
"The South Australian desert environment can be a tough one to work in, particularly for those coming from a Northern Hemisphere winter but both the cast and crew have thrown themselves into the shoot," Watts and Linde said.
FilmNation represents U.S. sales with UTA Independent Film Group. FilmNation came on to the project in Cannes, acquiring the majority of worldwide sales rights, which have already been sold to most markets. Village Roadshow has taken rights in Oz; eOne for the UK, Canada and Benelux; Metropolitan for France; Telepool for Germany; Top Film for CIS; Italia Film for Greece, Turkey and Middle East; Nordisk for Iceland and Scandinavia; and Pony Canyon for Japan.
Shooting completes in mid-March in South Australia, with postproduction taking place in Sydney.

from Deadline:
Rob Pattinson is in for a dusty South Australian shoot with Animal Kingdom director David Michôd, who began filming the slow burn thriller last Tuesday. Pattinson, who completed his Edward Cullen vampire duties last November with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part II, stars alongside Guy Pearce in The Rover as Reynolds, a member of a gang of thieves who is left behind after a botched job. Pearce plays Eric, who enlists Reynolds to help track down his car when it’s stolen by the thugs.
Australian actors Susan Prior (Animal Kingdom), Gillian Jones (Oscar And Lucinda), and David Field (Chopper) join Pattinson, Pearce, Scoot McNairy, and Anthony Hayes in the pic, written by Michôd from a story by Michôd and Zero Dark Thirty actor Joel Edgerton. Liz Watts is producing for Porchlight Films and David Linde for Lava Bear Films. FilmNation took most global rights and will rep the film on U.S. sales with UTA Independent Film Group.
grosso modo....
