from Variety
The film directed by Brady Corbet will shoot in November
Berenice Bejo will play the matriarch in the upcoming drama “The Childhood of the Leader,” Variety has learned.
Juliette Binoche was originally cast in the part, but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. The film, which focuses on the early years of a post-World War I ruler, is the directorial debut of actor Brady Corbet (“Simon Killer”) and co-stars Robert Pattinson and Tim Roth.
Bejo was nominated for a supporting actress Oscar for her breakout role in 2011’s “The Artist,” won the Cannes actress award for 2013’s “The Past” and reteamed with her husband-director, Michel Hazanavicius, in the 2014 war picture “The Search.”
Corbet co-wrote the script with Mona Fastvold. “The Childhood of a Leader” will begin shooting in November in Budapest.

*UPDATE* about "The Childhood of a Leader" and "The Lost City of Z"... with Robert Pattinson...

Rob's future movie projects....

from Deadline
Brady Corbet is the director of "The Childhood of a Leader"
...

Binoche also stars in Corbet’s "The Childhood Of A Leader" in late fall with Robert Pattinson and Tim Roth. For Sils Maria, his interaction with the actress created “this kind of meta thing that Olivier appreciates,” he says of his friend.
The WME-repeed Corbet tells me Childhood Of A Leader is about a little boy who relocates to France with his family in 1919. His father is a political advisor to Woodrow Wilson about seven months in the run up to the Treaty of Versailles. He calls it, “My version of a horror film. Instead of being possessed by a demon, the little boy is possessed by notions of the era.”

James Gray is the director of  "The Lost City of Z"
...
The Lost City of Z (a period adventure film, concerning British surveyors looking for a city in the jungles of Brazil; Z was set up to be made with Brad Pitt back in 2004) appears to be ready to film (with Benedict Cumberbatch and Robert Pattinson). Do you have a start date?
We’ll begin filming in January. I’m going to start prepping in September. It’s a very elaborate film and requires extensive prep. We’re going to shoot in two different countries. It’s going to be a very challenging, but hopefully rewarding shoot.
You’ve been close to making Z a few times, what type of film can we expect? Has it changed in scope over the past decade?I want to ask the same question with each film, which is: what does it mean to be a human being? The Lost City of Z is almost set on two different planets – the jungle and Victorian England. What does it mean to be a civilized person? This to me is a profound question. What is progress? Is progress just economic growth? Or is it understanding what’s around us? Is it growth of emotional intelligence or GDP growth? How do we contemplate new and old ideas of humanity? That to me is what Z is about.

*UPDATE* "Mission: Blacklist"... Robert Pattinson NO longer attached to it....

...
Capturedcran2012-05-09194055 photo Capturedcran2012-05-09194055-1.jpg

from The Wrap
Code Entertainment is financing the film, which will recast the lead role of military interrogator Eric Maddox
Robert Pattinson has exited “Mission: Blacklist,” an indie thriller about the hunt for Saddam Hussein, due to scheduling issues, TheWrap has learned.
First announced in May 2012, Pattinson was attached to play military interrogator Eric Maddox, who spearheaded Hussein's capture.
With two films premiering at Cannes, Pattinson is coming off a very active period. He just wrapped Anton Corbijn's “Life” with Dane DeHaan and did not have sufficient time to prepare for his demanding role in “Mission: Blacklist,” an individual familiar with the situation told TheWrap.
The role of Maddox will now be recast, and the filmmakers hope to start production this fall.
Swedish filmmaker Jesper Ganslandt remains attached to direct from a script by “Band of Brothers” scribe Erik Jendresen, Dylan Kussman and Trace Sheehan, who adapted Harper Collins’ 2008 book “Mission: Black List #1,” written by Maddox and Davin Seay.
Preferred Content's Ross Dinerstein is producing with Jendresen and Kevin Waller, as well as Bart Rosenblatt of Code Entertainment, which is also financing the film.
Pattinson has a busy spring with two films heading to Cannes — David Cronenberg's “Maps to the Stars” and David Michod's “The Rover,” which also stars Guy Pearce.
Looking ahead, Pattinson is attached to star alongside Benedict Cumberbatch in James Gray's “The Lost City of Z” and the James Marsh thriller “Hold On to Me” with Carey Mulligan. He's repped by WME, 3 Arts Entertainment, Curtis Brown Group and attorney Robert Offer.

After stumbling upon a hidden trove of diaries, acclaimed New Yorker writer David Grann set out to solve “the greatest exploration mystery of the twentieth century”: What happened to the British explorer Percy Fawcett and his quest for the Lost City of Z? In 1925 Fawcett ventured into the Amazon to find an ancient civilization, hoping to make one of the most important discoveries in history. For centuries Europeans believed the world’s largest jungle concealed the glittering kingdom of El Dorado. Thousands had died looking for it, leaving many scientists convinced that the Amazon was truly inimical to humankind. But Fawcett, whose daring expeditions helped inspire Conan Doyle’s The Lost World, had spent years building his scientific case. Captivating the imagination of millions around the globe, Fawcett embarked with his twenty-one-year-old son, determined to prove that
this ancient civilization—which he dubbed “Z”— existed. Then he and his expedition vanished.

A true story about the friendship between James Dean (DeHaan) and Life Magazine photographer Dennis Stock (Pattinson). Stock was a young
photographer working for the Magnum agency when he received an assignment that changed his life: to shoot a free-spirited actor named James
Dean. The gig became a personal journey for both as they traveled from L.A. to New York to Indiana. It led Stock to capture iconic images before
Dean’s launch to stardom with East of Eden (1955).
