Very hasty (and therefore terrible) shot of Robert Pattinson AKA Cedric Diggory from the fourth HP film taken in a Leicester Square bar a few weeks ago.

Well, my bf was playing this bar in London so we went along to see him and Pattinson happened to be playing there as well. Was pretty cool and I chatted to him for a while, nice bloke but he was slightly drunk when I spoke to him, hehe. He played a couple of nice songs, I got an autograph, and all the usual stuff. Was fun :)

More about Marcus Foster's "I Was Broken" music vid. ...

and Kristen... and the Britpack....

Twilight star Kristen helps to bring new blood to music world
Singer-songwriter Marcus Foster has been able to call on famous friends including the stars of the Twilight films in his quest to make the big time after 10 years playing in London pubs and bars.

Foster, 25, who has a debut album coming out this month, enlisted Kristen Stewart to star in his new video, launching today on YouTube. And growing up in south-west London, Robert Pattinson - Stewart's co-star in the vampire movies franchise - was Foster's best friend at Harrodian School in Barnet.

The Boat That Rocked star Tom Sturridge, whose siblings were fellow pupils, became another pal. So when Foster got a record deal and decided the first single, I Was Broken, from the album needed a boost, Sturridge devised a script and Stewart responded quickly to an email request to star.

"I called in favours. I'm really lucky," Foster said. The video was wrapped up in five days in Kentish Town last week. The single is out on September 19 with the album, Nameless Path, a week later.

Marcus Foster premiered the video for his new single 'I Was Broken' yesterday afternoon on MSN Music. The video features as exclusive appearance by Twilight star Kristen Stewart and in a little over 24 hours the video has been viewed a staggering 223,000 times. Already it's become MSN's second most-viewed music video in 2011.

Scripted and mentored by Marcus' long standing friend and actor, Tom Sturridge, the video was filmed last week in London after Marcus decided to make his own accompaniment to the song.

Marcus Foster announces New Album, Single...

and UK Tour ...
 Photobucket
It seems this album has been on the cards for a long time, and now finally we have a firm release date and lots of lovely details.

Marcus' album, "Nameless Path" will be released by Communion/Poldor records on the 26th of September. We have had a sneaky listen over here at The Ruckus, and can assure you it is a thing of beauty. I've been seeing Marcus play for nearly two and a half years now, and have watched his progression from folky singer feeling his way in music armed only with a guitar, to front man of a band who knows where he is going and what it is going to sound like.

The album will be preceded by a single, released a week before the album, which will happily be one of my favourite tracks from the album, "I Was Broken". It is not a track Marcus has often performed live, but it seems to be a fan favourite none the less.

Marcus will also take his band and album on tour in October, after a summer filled with festivals. It is his biggest UK headline tour to date, which is pretty exciting. You'll be able to catch him at these places:
  • 22nd July – Truck Festival, Oxford
  • 23rd July – Deershed Festival, Thirsk
  • 24th July – Secret Garden Party
  • 29th July – Camp Bestival, Dorset
  • 13th August – FireFly Festival, Shropshire
  • 20th August – Greenman Festival, Brecon Beacons
  • 11th September – Bestival, Isle of Wight
  • 1st October – Bodega, Nottingham
  • 2nd October – Brudenell Social Club, Leeds
  • 4th October – King Tuts, Glasgow
  • 5th October – Cabaret Voltaire, Edinburgh
  • 6th October – The Cluny 2, Newcastle
  • 7th October – The Deaf Institute, Manchester
  • 8th October – The Rainbow, Birmingham
  • 9th October – The Portland Arms, Cambridge
  • 11th October – Thekla, Bristol
  • 12th October – Dingwalls, London
Make sure you get out and see him if you can, and look out for a more detailed review of the album from one of us Londoners closer to the release.
In the mean time, here is Marcus's last single, Rushes and Reeds, for you to enjoy:

Marcus Foster Review for "Tumbled Down"

L♡VING that song... "Shadows Of The City"

Photobucket
Bluesy London-based Marcus Foster’s debut EP serves as an introduction to a relatively unknown musical figure despite having played a major part in a YouTube smash hit.

Foster co-wrote ‘Let Me Sign’, an emotive track sung by Twilight’s teen heartthrob Robert Pattinson that has so far received more than 12 million views.

Now the 24-year-old singer/songwriter has finally come out of the woodwork to give us a taste of his earthy melodies in a four song collection that starts off with the haunting ‘Shadows Of The City’.

The title track, ‘Tumble Down’, is a much mellower affair with a plucked guitar that echoes like its being played in a distant cave before Foster’s restrained Jeff Buckley-esque vocal takes precedence.

Long echoes of guitar introduce you to the final track, ‘You Send Me’, that coolly delivers a low tempo drum beat and earthy Ray Lamontagne-style emotive delivery before the crescendo moments when Foster sings: “Shadows are gone”.

For a first EP this really is a cracking effort, with drama, emotion and a great husky vocal packed into four choice tracks although at times it does feel like some of the tracks could be more understated to avoid those overstretched endings.

8/10

Marcus Foster In His Latest Interview!

Talks About Rob & 'Let Me Sign'...

Photobucket
‘Let Me Sign’ brought you to a lot of people’s attention through the Twilight soundtrack. Were you happy with how Robert Pattinson performed it?

It’s really great. Originally that song was a bit of a joke, it was a clapping song that me and my friend wrote together and he turned it into this really serious, moody song. So it was quite funny. But it was great, we worked it out together and I really like it.
Full interview at the HERE...

Marcus' 'Tumble Down EP' is released on 4th April 2011.

Marcus Foster's Interview

from C=T (Cause = Time)

 Photobucket

Citation...

C=T & photographer extraordinaire Todd Roeth have teamed up again for another addition of Quick Hits. This week, we have caught up with UK singer-songwriter, Marcus Foster. The solo artist is touring behind a a live album and EP. Not to mention appearing on two different soundtracks and having a heartthrob for a bff (my wife thinks he’s pretty dreamy). Needless to say, the guy is very busy and most earnest singer songwriter touring the circuit

MF: The tour seems to be going well, people are enjoying the shows, its amazing traveling around and a great way seeing America. I didn’t get the chance to visit In and Out burger although someone gave me a voucher for it but i did get to go to Amoeba which was insane I spent hundreds of dollars in there buying old blues and gospel records from the fifties I could live in that place.
C=T : Best Bob Dylan album to listen to on vinyl?
MF: I haven’t got them all on vinyl just yet but listening to ‘Boots of Spanish Leather’ or ‘One too many Mornings’ off the ‘Times they are a changing’ album is pretty special.
C=T : Your music has been selected on two different occasions to appear in cinema. How do you decide if you want your work to appear in said works?
MF: One of the films had Christopher Walken in it and I’m a big fan of his so I couldn’t say no and it’s a great movie called ‘Five Dollars A Day’. The other film was different because a friend of mine sung the song that I wrote and I didn’t know he recorded it but when I found out I thought why not.I would like to do some more music for film, I like the idea of doing something like Neil Young in that film ‘Dead Man’ where he just watched the film and played his guitar. I also write a lot of instrumental stuff on the piano.
Photobucket

C=T : Who would smoke more cigarettes in one night, Nick Cave or Tom Waits?
MF: In his time of smoking, Tom Waits.
C=T : What are your current recording plans for the rest of the year?
MF: When I get back to London I’m going to put together a band and record some live stuff and maybe cut an album if i find the right musicians or maybe put out a single on itunes I’m not sure. I also plan on returning back to America to do another tour in December if i can work it out.
C=T : Does the English team stand a chance in next year’s World Cup?
MF: There’s nothing like a room full of people filled with false hope.

How the Brit-Pack....

Rob Pattinson, Sam Bradley and others are affecting American pop culture

Has everyone noticed how plaid is the new color for fall? Specifically, plaid shirts for both men and women. One can’t help but wonder if Robert Pattinson’s (start of mega movie franchise, Twilight, and BFF Bobby Long’s preference for plaid shirts have affected the current trends and styles of the U.S. Everywhere one looks, you will see blue and red plaid, black and white plaid, yellow, blue and white plaid – everything plaid! Coincidence? Hardly. That is just one of the small ways the Brit-Pack, consisting of Rob Pattinson, Sam Bradley, Marcus Foster, Bobby Long and Tom Sturridge, are affecting American pop culture. These British lads have hit the U.S. pop culture like a storm, riding the waves of the popular 2008 Twilight movie franchise in which three of the British lads co-wrote songs with Rob Pattinson on the Twilight movie soundtrack. Marcus Foster and Bobby Long co-authored the song, “Let Me Sign,” which Rob performed on the movie soundtrack and Sam Bradley co-wrote “Never Think” with Rob that was also featured on the soundtrack.

This weekend, all three are performing at the much publicized Twi-Con event in Dallas, Texas. With as many as 2,500 attendees, these three British musicians will likely affect the fans in the same way the Beatles did back in the 60s. Then, it was the Beatles. Today, it’s Sam Bradley, Marcus Foster and Bobby Long – three of the famous Brit-Pack group headed by mega-star, Rob Pattinson. As a result, the U.S. will never be the same.

Already, young men can be seen across the nation with hair that can only be described as “Rob Pattinson hair.” Scruffy, bed-head hair, gelled, tousled, and adorable. Sam Bradley sports a more chic, shorter hairstyle and Bobby Long prefers sweeping bangs over the eyes, while Marcus Foster has a relaxed, curly, devil-may-care look. Watch the U.S. teens as these hairstyles take precedence in an era when everything British is wonderful in the U.S. Not to mention the beautiful accents.
Perhaps Simon Cowell re-ignited the love affair of the U.S. with the Brits with the much-watched “American Idol” TV show, based on Britain’s “Pop Idol” TV show. Perhaps the love affair with the Brit-Pack is simply reminiscent of the one with the Beatles from long ago. Perhaps Americans simply look to their cousins, the Brits, as the leaders in pop culture where everything “Brit” is cool and attractive. In 1965, model Jean Shrimpton wore a miniskirt to the Melbourne Cup and shocked the country. A few weeks later, thousands were wearing skirts of that length in the U.S. Another new ideal was that women started wearing pants. Bell bottoms and blue jeans were worn by young women, much to the disheartenment of their mothers. Boys had long hair, like the Beatles and wore bell bottoms and brightly colored shirts and socks.

The Beatles weren't the only successful British Band. Gerry and the
Pacemakers, the Dave Clark Five, The Who and the Rolling Stones together launched the British Invasion on the world. The British Invasion was a different type of music altogether. The Beatles combined the guitar based rock and roll of Chuck Berry while the Stones added aspects of Chicago Blues in their forceful music.

Much like those British bands of yesteryear, Bobby Long, Sam Bradley and Marcus Foster are bringing their own styles of music and style to the U.S. Will it have the same impact as the Beatles and others? Only time will tell. All three are brilliant songwriters with a grasp of writing music that belies their age. Long’s music is reminiscent of a troubadour’s - raspy, folksy, and a little Dylanesque. Foster’s music is bluesy, folksy and brilliant, and Bradley’s music is more pop and Americana. All three have unique, different sounds and American fans love all three of them.

Among the Brit-Pack, Tom Sturridge is an actor with no apparent musical aspirations. Tom has starred in such movies as Being Julia, Vanity Fair (in which Rob starred as well), and Like Minds. He, too, has the potential to influence American pop culture with his own style of scruffy hair, homeless style of dressing in plaid shirts and cut jeans, with that attitude of, “I’m comfortable just the way I am.” It’s this attitude that Americans may be fond of. Brits don’t have to try to be cool. They just are.

As for the three musicians, Bobby, Sam and Marcus, they all will embark on U.S. tours immediately following Twi-con this weekend. Bobby Long will begin his Dangerous Summer Tour through the U.S. in an ambitious, jam-packed schedule. He’ll also head up to Quebec, Canada, then to Barcelona, Spain, Paris, France, Germany and back to the U.S. again for a fall tour. Likewise, Sam Bradley will also be embarking on another U.S. tour after Twi-con, as will Marcus Foster.

Robert Pattinson & his Musical Friends...

EW Article....

big thanks to Robert Pattinson (great MySpace fan page...)...
you're so sweet... ^_^

cliquer plusieurs fois sur la pic...

Dans le dernier EW, il y a un tit article sur Robert Pattinson et ses amis "musicos" , incluant Bobby Long, Sam Bradley et Marcus Foster.

WHY THEM: One of these names you know. The others you might not, but their profiles are quickly rising, thanks to their songwriting work on the still-hot Twilight soundtrack. Bradley co-penned “Never Think” with Pattinson, while Long and Foster wrote bonus track “Let Me Sign”

FRIENDS IN HIGH PLACES: How did three obscure musicians score such a prominent gig? They had an in: Foster and Bradley went to school with the British actor, Long met the other three at an open-mike night. (Before Twilight, Pattinson was also an aspiring singer.) Despite their friendship, their music is quite different. Bradley favors a rock vibe, Long is more folk-inclined, and Foster owes something to Tom Waits.

THIS DOESN’T SUCK: Bradley was on his way to use the bathroom when Pattinson called to say their song was going to appear in Twilight. “I pissed myself,” he says. Really? “No.”

NEXT: The trio will reunite at July’s TwiCon festival in Dallas. “It’s going to be mental,” say Foster. Will Pattinson sit in? “I wouldn’t turn up there if I was him,” says Long. Foster hopes to record some songs with Pattinson soon; “It might be my stuff, or his stuff, or some stuff we wrote together.”

ON THEIR MUST LIST: Long loves rockers the Felice Brothers, while Bradley is a fan of Vancouver singer Shera Kelly. One of Foster’s favorite actors is Christopher Walken, whose forthcoming film $5 a Dayfeatures another of Foster’s songs.

petite traduc... ^_^

Vraiment ? "Non..."
