BERLINO - In occasione della 64a edizione del Festival Internazionale del Cinema di Berlino (fino al 16 febbraio 2014), il fotografo ufficiale della manifestazione Gerhard
Kassner presenta in una mostra («Berlinale Porträts») i suoi ritratti delle star. In seguito alla recente chiusura dell'Hotel Bogota, dove Kassner ha condiviso le sue fotografie del Festival con il pubblico per gli ultimi tre anni, è stato trovato un nuovo spazio espositivo, il bar berlinese di culto Kosmetiksalon Babette. La mostra, dopo l'apertura, verrà ampliata quotidianamente fino al 16 febbraio per includere nuovi ritratti di grande formato delle stelle internazionali presenti quest'anno a Berlino, accompagnati da aneddoti personali del fotografo.

Nei 12 anni in cui Gerhard Kassner è stato fotografo ritrattista per il Festival, ha catturato le immagini di innumerevoli registi e attori, emergenti e di fama mondiale: i suoi lavori testimoniano al tempo stesso la storia del cinema e quella della Berlinale. Nonostante le sedute dei ritratti durino tra i 3 e i 5 minuti (a volte anche meno), i risultati sono non solo impeccabili tecnicamente, ma trasmettono l'approccio sincero di Kassner verso i suoi modelli e la sua grande intuizione nel catturare l'essenza di chi è abituato a posare davanti alle telecamere, da Hugh Jackman a Jeff Bridges, da Anne Hathaway a Robert Pattinson.

BERLIN - On the occasion of 64th International Berlin Film Festival (until February 16, 2014), the official photographer of the event, Gerhard Kassner, presents in an exhibition ("Berlinale Porträts") his portraits of the stars. Following the recent closure of the Hotel Bogota, where Kassner has shared his photographs of the Festival with the public for the past three years, the new exhibition space will be the cult Berlin bar Kosmetiksalon Babette. The show, after the opening day, will be extended until february 16 to include new large portraits of international stars attending this year in Berlin, accompanied by personal anecdotes of the photographer.

In the 12 years in which Gerhard Kassner has been a portrait photographer for the Festival, he has captured the images of countless both emerging and worlwide famous directors and actors: his work witness as the same time the history of cinema and that of the Berlinale. Although the sessions of the portraits will last between 3 and 5 minutes (sometimes even less), the results are not just technically flawless, but they convey the sincere Kassner approach towards his models and his great insight in capturing the essence of people used to pose in front of the cameras, Hugh Jackman, Jeff Bridges, Anne Hathaway to Robert Pattinson.
