Dear fans of The Twilight Saga,
I want to congratulate you for reaching over 6 million fans on The Twilight Saga Facebook page.
It's hard to fathom that it was just over one year ago that I started constructing this third and epic adventure which takes place in the town of Forks.
I want to share a story about one of our days of shooting with you. It was a Friday night and the rain was relentless. We were at La Push to shoot the tribe's histories, a great speech by Billy Black. We had Taylor and Kristen and the whole wolf pack around a campfire as the heavens let loose on us.
Gil Birmingham was in fine form as the rain hammered down on us all, we adjusted our lights so that the rain vanished into the black of night.
We constructed a tent over the scene to keep everyone dry as we worked, every 15 minutes or so we would have to tip it to stop the collecting rain from splitting the fabric.
For some reason still unknown, around 3am, the wolf pack stood exactly in the way of several gallons of rainwater as it was being cleared.
Being the wolf pack, they just laughed it off as they stood there soaked to the bone.
We worked through the mud and the rain all night, until we had the scene perfected.
As we left, dawn was now cracking and in the dim light I passed a small army of fans who had braved the weather for the entire night, still standing there, holding drenched flowers and waiting to get a glimpse of our actors.
So, to those of you who stood behind our security, who waited in line at theatres overnight, to those of you who just love these stories, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is a love letter to you.
Each day I felt the weight of your favourite scenes, your favourite lines, your dreams and your imagination.
It has been an unforgettable journey, and now as I finalise the last prints to ready the film for your local theaters, I cannot wait for you to see it.

David Slade's Interview...
David Slade Talks "Twilight: Eclipse"
Twilight: New Moon isn’t even in theatres yet, but we are already gearing up for the third film, Twilight: Eclipse. We crashed a David Slade signing at Dark Delicacies in Burbank, California, where he was signing a new line of toys based on 30 Days of Night.
“One of the cool things about shooting a movie based on a book is that it is not a film the studio can really change,” he tells us. “Not that the studio would want to change anything, of course.” David promises that they will stick close to the book – there is no sense in changing the story at all.' What will differ about Slade’s Twilight?
“I don’t really know. We haven’t even started shooting yet.”
While the director says he has a basic idea of what he wants to do with it, he is more concerned with telling a good story than being “different.” “It is darker, and there is a lot more action than the previous two,” he admits. “The third book is from Bella’s point of view, but the film will be more objective.”
And just how will he do that?
“We are going to focus on the origin stories of several characters, like Jasper, and show how Bella will decide between Edward and Jacob.”
David didn’t read the books until the studio was interested in
bringing him in – then he did his homework.
“It was tough for a middle-aged man to get into,” he admits, “from the point of view of a 17 year old girl. But once I got past that, I found them to be really good stories.”
He is especially excited about the great script from Dexter writer/producer Melissa Rosenberg. Right now, they are still in preproduction, with plans to start shooting later in the year.
When asked about his list of genre credits (including 30 Days of Night, Hard Candy, and mind-bending music videos for bands such as Aphex Twin, Stone Temple Pilots, and System of a Down), Slade admits to being a genre fan.
“How many other chances do you get to create your own world from scratch?” He also tells us: “When I first got cable, I watched FEARnet constantly. I really loved Midnight Meat Train. I wanted to direct it – the studio sent me the script – but in the end I was a little too late.”
While nothing post-Eclipse is written in blood, he is looking at a few other projects, all in the horror/fantasty/sci-fi genre.

New Moon n'est même encore dans les salles de cinéma,que nous sommes déjà sur la piste du 3ème opus Twilight: Eclipse. Nous avons coincé David Slade signant (dédicacant) à Dark Delicacies à Burbank, California, une nouvelle ligne de produits (jouets... ;oP) dérivés de 30 days of night.
"Une des choses cool avec le tournage d'un film basé sur un livre cest que ce n'est pas un film que le studio peut vraiment changer" nous dit il. "non pas que le studio aurait voulu changer tout et n'importe quoi, naturellement." David nous promet David qu'ils colleront au plus près du livre - "il n'y a aucun sens à tout changer l'histoire"...
En quoi le Twilight de Slade sera différent?
" je ne sais vraiment pas. Nous n'avons pas encore commencé à tourner".
Tandis que le directeur dit il a une idée fondamentale de ce qu'il veut en faire, il est davantage concerné par raconter une bonne histoire plutôt que de faire qque chos de "différent". "L'univers d'Eclipse est plus noir, il y a plus d'action que dans les 2 premiers volets" admet il. "Le troisième livre est du point de vue de Bella, mais le film sera plus objectif."
mais comment allez-vous vous y prendre?
"Nous allons nous concentrer sur les histoires d'origine de plusieurs personnages, comme Jasper, et montrons comment Bella se décidera / positionnera entre Edouard et Jacob."
David n'avait pas lu les livres jusqu'à ce que le studio s'interresse à lui en l'impliquant. il a alors fait des "devoirs".
"c'était dur pour un homme entre deux âges d'entrer dedans" il admet, "de se mettre à la place d'une jeune fille de 17ans". Mais une fois que j'ai eut passé ce, j'ai trouvés en fait que c'était de très bonnes histoires."
Il est particulièrement excité au sujet du script écrit par Melissa Rosenberg, auteur et producteur (trice) de Dexter. En ce moment, ils sont toujours dans la phase de préproduction, avec des plans pour commencer à tourner plus tard par année.
Quand nous avons posé des questions sur ses différentes collaborations de ce genre (30 days of night, Hard Candy et des vidéos clips musicaux hallucinants pour des groupes tels que Aphex Twin, Stone Temple Pilots, and System of a Down), Slade admet à être fan de ce genre.
"Combien avez vous de chance de créer votre propre monde à partir de zéro ?" Il nous dit également "quand j'ai obtenu la première fois le câble, j'ai regardé FEARnet constamment. J'ai vraiment aimé le film Midnight Meat Train. J'ai voulu le diriger -le studio m'a envoyé le manuscrit- mais à la fin j'étais peu trop un en retard."
Tandis que rien d'Eclipse n'est encore écrit dans le marbre, il travaille sur quelques autres différents projets, tous dans le genre de l'horreur/fantasty/sci-fi.
